I spent 2,5 weeks with Cosmin, Oana and their 15 years old son Andreii. The family gave me a very warm welcome and I felt very much at home. As they all speak English, it was very easy to communicate. They love to chat and have an incredible amount of interesting things to tell. At the weekend, their son Cris came home. The food is very good, plentiful and, above all, typically Romanian. Cosmin and Oana work full-time in Jibou. So I spent a lot of time with André, or rather, I had time to go for walks in the nearby woods and to read. When the parents were back, we harvested the crops together, prepared the vegetables and watered the large vegetable patch. As Cosmin and Oana are biologists, they can tell you a great deal about the variety of plants. Whilst I was there, the family went on holiday for four days. During that time, another WWOOFer and I were responsible for the animals and the vegetable patch. The accommodation in a separate house is perfect; it’s only a 5-minute walk to the family’s house, where all the meals are eaten. Thank you very much, dear Oana, Cosmin, Chris and Andreii for sharing your life with me. Thank you also for the lovely trip to the mountains! Thank you so much for taking me to church, and for letting me accompany Oana on the pilgrimage! That was a wonderful experience. The festival in Mera was also brilliant – the family sold food there, and they organised a ticket for me as well as the return journey. Thank you!!!

My stay with Paula en Rares was a wonderful in-depth experience. The place they call their home breathes love and care. Care for the animals, vegetables and fruits. Care for fellow humans. They're the most kind and giving people that you can encounter. Thank you Paula and Rares to let me be part of your day-to-day life: milking the cow, making cheese, conserving, caring for the animals...thank you for letting me part of the family. I spent two incredible weeks with Örs. A perfect balance of hard work, discovery and fun. Örs is a very kind, generous and curious person who likes to joke around. Very quickly, I felt as though I was staying with a mate I’d known for ages. He is constantly coming up with new ideas and projects for improving or maintaining his home. So You won’t get bored in his company and you’ll learn a lot. He enjoys sharing his knowledge and culture but also learning from other. What’s more, in Jebucu (Zsobok), you will have the chance to discover two important cultures in the region: Hungarian and Romanian. Don't be surprised if you don't understand a word of Hungarian, it's normal. But the people are lovely. He is surrounded by a truly warm and welcoming community, so you will meet lots of people, each one more interesting than the last. Thank you again Supreme Leader for these two weeks, see you !

Our time on Paul’s farm was very enjoyable. He is a wise and experienced host, providing us with cozy housing and tasty food. We were pleasantly surprised to have air conditioning and a comfortable bathroom. During our time, we completed a multitude of tasks, including painting and putting a fence together, transporting rocks to pave a driveway, filling a ditch, raking and collecting grass, hoisting a pole carrying an inverter, mixing and laying concrete, and other minor improvements. Unfortunately, due to adverse weather, we were not able to work with bees at this time of year. Even so, Paul ensured that we had a refreshing balance of tasks so the work was not repetitive on a day to day basis. We averaged about four hours of work each day, and were encouraged to take breaks during the hottest hours of the day. At all points of our visit, Paul was deliberate in making sure that we were comfortable and satisfied with our stay. As young WWOOFers, it was nice to be joined some days by his sons, who were also very kind and knowledgeable.

We had a very pleasant time during our one month stay with Paul. Our tasks included building and painting a fence, filling in a ditch, scything and collecting grass, transporting rocks for a parking space, and laying concrete. We really enjoyed the quiet and peaceful mountainous landscape surrounding the property. Paul was a knowledgeable and caring host, making sure all our needs were met and helping us make the most of our stay. The accommodations were homey and included AC, and we loved cooking all our meals together outside. Several of the foods we ate were locally sourced, like milk and cheese from a neighboring farmer and raspberries growing right by the dining table. We also enjoyed spending time with Ginger, a cute local stray cat. We would definitely recommend this farm, especially if you want to experience first hand what manual labor and sustainable life in a rural Romanian setting is like.
