Our time on Paul’s farm was very enjoyable. He is a wise and experienced host, providing us with cozy housing and tasty food. We were pleasantly surprised to have air conditioning and a comfortable bathroom. During our time, we completed a multitude of tasks, including painting and putting a fence together, transporting rocks to pave a driveway, filling a ditch, raking and collecting grass, hoisting a pole carrying an inverter, mixing and laying concrete, and other minor improvements. Unfortunately, due to adverse weather, we were not able to work with bees at this time of year. Even so, Paul ensured that we had a refreshing balance of tasks so the work was not repetitive on a day to day basis. We averaged about four hours of work each day, and were encouraged to take breaks during the hottest hours of the day. At all points of our visit, Paul was deliberate in making sure that we were comfortable and satisfied with our stay. As young WWOOFers, it was nice to be joined some days by his sons, who were also very kind and knowledgeable.

Spent a week with Zsuzsa and Roger at their beautiful homestead in the Romanian mountains! It was a great experience. We helped out with many different projects, had plenty of good food and also had time to go for a hike in the surrounding area. Would recommend to anyone who wants to experience life in a homestead in such a calm and beautiful place.

We had a very pleasant time during our one month stay with Paul. Our tasks included building and painting a fence, filling in a ditch, scything and collecting grass, transporting rocks for a parking space, and laying concrete. We really enjoyed the quiet and peaceful mountainous landscape surrounding the property. Paul was a knowledgeable and caring host, making sure all our needs were met and helping us make the most of our stay. The accommodations were homey and included AC, and we loved cooking all our meals together outside. Several of the foods we ate were locally sourced, like milk and cheese from a neighboring farmer and raspberries growing right by the dining table. We also enjoyed spending time with Ginger, a cute local stray cat. We would definitely recommend this farm, especially if you want to experience first hand what manual labor and sustainable life in a rural Romanian setting is like.

I was very lucky to spend 2 lovely weeks with the family at chickadee farm and would highly recommend to anyone looking to take part in the rhythm of everyday life in the village and farm and enjoy Romania's landscape. I enjoyed the walks, ATV rides, delicious meals, fence making, and learning how to pickle, preserve, grow, and harvest food - there is a lot to learn and do! (and a lot of cats to pet). I loved visiting the monastery, Jibou's botanical gardens, and learning about Oana's and Cosmin's research as biologists there! Super informative and fun stay. A massive thank you to Oana, Cosmin, Andrei and bunica for their incredible hospitality!

I spent three absolutely incredible weeks with Cosmin, Oana, and Andrei. They were incredibly welcoming and more than warm. Right up until the end, I enjoyed every single day I spent working with them. I learned a lot, and it didn’t even feel like work. It’s varied and involves everything from helping with household tasis to chopping wood, planting, watering, maintaining the grounds, and building things in the garden or around the house. I felt right at home, and I want nothing more than to come back. Thanks again for you generosity, kindness and humour!

Wow. They. are. amazing. Honored to be your first woofer ever and couldn’t imagine anyone better to also have had my first wwoof experience with!!! I was there for a week helping with whatever came up in their day. The only set events every day are milking the cow and feeding the animals which takes maybe 2h per day max. After that they are also very happy to prioritize tasks that you’re happy with; be it gardening, building or canning food based on the season. Times are flexible and they are very accommodating! Paula and Rareș are a young couple with a dream of sharing the homestead life and (in the future) having an off grid angus farm homestead. I’m sure over their lifetime their plans may move left and right a bit but their vision is clear. Also you as a new guest can profit of their kindness and share each others view of life. I’m so happy that not only had I a good time, interesting talks and a lot of laughs but also left with 2 more friendships. They are a highly recommended stop in your own game of life. You will not regret it My PS to new Wwofers : They won’t ask you for any money even for activities that cost them money but just remember they are a super young couple in their beginning of life. Use your own discression🫶

I had a great time at 119 with Örs. He is a kind and caring and respectful and humble and smart host with a great sense of humour, and is very easy to get along with. He has all sorts of community outreach projects and a fairly ambitious garden project (so he needs all the help he can get!) Also it was very interesting becoming familiar with the Hungarian perspective. It’s like a sister culture to Romanian, similar in many ways but different in others, certainly unique. You’ll enjoy yourself if you visit. And if you’re lucky, he’ll cook you the Örs signature: weeds. Thank you Örs for your sharing your time and space. All the best!

We came as a family to Cosmin’s farm and are very grateful to him, Oana and Andrey for giving us such a warm welcome. Picking berries, working in the garden, feeding the animals, discovering how to cook with flowers and fruit, ... We also enjoyed the delicious Romanian cuisine prepared by Oana and Cosmin’s mother, explored the surrounding forest with their son Andrey, and discovered the magnificent Carpathian Mountains with Cosmin . It was our first time woofing and we were very happy; we hope to stay in touch with Cosmin and his family!

I had a lovely time staying at Chickadee farms with Cosmin, Oana, and young Andrei. Their reputation precedes them! They were very thoughtful, kind, and accommodating, I immediately felt a part of the family. It was a nice way to really get to know the rural Romanian lifestyle, especially the food made by Oana and bunica (grandma) who lives just down the road. The highlight was visiting their place of work: the botanical gardens in Jibou. My whole stay was super informative - they know their stuff! Great chats, good work, great food!

Absolutely beautiful place, located in a wonderful landscape of mountains, rivers and rock formations, with huge biodiversity of flora and fauna. Many wonderful trails to visit during your stay ~ Work on the farm (mainly taking care of the animals and building projects) is connected with working with the tourists that come to visit, helping at the bar as well as other tasks that included preparation for events. It will be your responsibility to keep track of working hours, and take breaks when necessary. Overall Gabriel is a good host, I felt safe and comfortable during my stay. Thank you very much 🐾 Absolutely love the sheep, they are the cutest <3

Our first time WWOOFing, and what a heartwarming experience! We arrived at a home that was so friendly, humorous, and open-minded. The work, the many fascinating conversations, the shared meals (featuring many traditional dishes), exploring the beautiful landscape (with its incredible variety of wild and medicinal herbs), and discovering the unique architecture—it all added up to a brilliant experience. We thank Oana, Cosmin, and Andrej for showing us their special spots (the wooden church, the cave, the botanical garden), for sharing their naturally respectful way of life with us, and for never leaving a question or request unanswered. All in all, a truly special week—one we will talk about often and that will remain close to our hearts. A huge, heartfelt thank you to all of you—Bonika included—from Hansi and Angela.

My stay at Advent Center Berevoi was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, Rob made me feel completely at home. He is an exceptional host, and everyone at the center was genuinely kind, respectful, and welcoming. The food was incredible. As someone who usually eats meat, I can honestly say I didn’t miss it at all. In fact, I didn’t even realize during the first few days that I hadn’t eaten any meat! Every meal was colorful, delicious, and prepared with great care. What impressed me the most was the approach to Bible study. The focus was never on trying to convince anyone, but on understanding the Bible for ourselves. Every discussion and every answer pointed back to Scripture. No one pressures you to believe anything, but if you have questions, they are always happy to discuss them openly and thoughtfully. If you ever have the opportunity to visit Rob and the team at Advent Center Berevoi, go with an open mind, be curious, be respectful, and simply enjoy the experience. It is a truly special place, and I left with wonderful memories and a deeper appreciation for genuine Christian hospitality.
