Quiet Hillside with idilic landscape

Quiet Hillside Farm with Beautiful Views and Traditional Living
Our small family farm is located on a peaceful hillside with an idyllic landscape, rich in diverse flora and fauna. We are in central Romania, close to several beautiful landmarks: Bâlea Lake and the Transfăgărășan Road (40 km), the Olt River (2 km), and the city of Sibiu (55 km).
We grow a variety of vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, peppers, lettuce, beetroot, carrots, parsley), fruits (raspberries, strawberries, apples, pears, cherries, grapes, peaches), and crops like corn, wheat, potatoes, and lucerne (alfalfa). We also keep buffaloes, sheep, chickens, ducks, turkeys, cats, and dogs.
Volunteers can help with:
Milking the buffaloes
Planting and weeding
Cleaning and pruning fruit trees and vines
Cutting grass and gathering hay
Household and farm repairs
Plowing and harvesting (potatoes, corn, fruits, vegetables)
Preserving food (making tomato sauce, jam, pickles, zacusca)
Cooking and helping in the kitchen
Workshop tasks and building projects
You’ll be hosted by Ghiță and Ginia, a friendly couple aged 50 and 53. They only speak Romanian but are warm and welcoming and they are used to google translate. Volunteers can stay in a room with access to an indoor bathroom and shower, or pitch a tent if they prefer. We also offer internet access and an outdoor toilet if needed.
Come and experience real Romanian rural life, help us with seasonal farm tasks, and enjoy simple living surrounded by nature.

It was a fantastic experience working with Andreaa and her family, working with all the animals and vegetables on her parents' farm. I'm very grateful to them for everything I was able to do there. The various tasks were both fun and challenging. I could communicate perfectly in English with some family members, and for the rest, I worked perfectly with Translate. I recommend this WOOOF experience to everyone, and I look back on it fondly. Romania is a beautiful country, and the farm was a special place to work. The owner, Ginia, is a wonderful cook, and she wants you to experience her cooking! Working with the water buffalo was also a unique experience, bringing them back to the stable every evening to be milked by hand. The many birds were beautiful to watch together, and the delicious eggs they laid were fun to collect. It was absolutely fantastic!

by visiting Ginia and Ghiță, we didn't meet just woofing hosts but also friends.
we have the feeling that they would always welcome us with open arms and we are planning to visit them again, as soon as we can.
even if we stayed only 4 days with them, it felt we know each other since a long time and we didn't have any problems accommodating with the tasks and do very pleasant and useful things in the short time we've been there.

I had a great time and learned a lot staying with this welcoming family. The food that they produce and prepare is incredible. The hosts and their neighbors are generous, caring, and knowledgeable. Be prepared that without speaking Romanian, communication can be challenging. Overall it was a great experience.

We had a great time staying with Ginia and Ghita, a warm and generous family. We helped with different tasks around the farm, from working in the garden and preparing lavender essence to spending time with the animals and storing corn. Everything we ate was fresh and homegrown, and the food was absolutely delicious, the kind you rarely find in big cities. After many years without visiting the countryside, this experience brought us back to something real and grounding. We truly recommend it!

It was an exciting experience to get an insight into the life of Ginia and her husband! They are welcoming and caring. But you need to know, that they only speak Romanian, so the communication can be complicated!
They cook amazing traditional romanian food and produce nearly everything they need themselves, which is very interessting and inspiring. The dog, cats, chicken and buffalos are great company :)
