Raising and educating horses in a natural style
Brașov
1. Describe your project, your place, and its inhabitants (including animals):
I have a farm where the horses are cared for and breed. Although I educate them, I do not work with them. Some suffered accidents and have various diseases, others were victims of diseases that unfortunately left traces. However, the vast majority are healthy. But the reason why I cannot work with them is the lack of serious and qualified personnel.
It can therefore be said that it is a sanctuary for horses and not a farm that produces income. I'm also afraid to sell them if the potential buyers can't assure me that they will love and take care of the horses. For me they are not pets but my non-speaking friends
I was alone with 40 horses for over 4 years. Paradoxically, the refugees from Ukraine that I accommodated on the occasion of the recent sad events, all contributed to my support. They all did something. Either in the house, or in the yard, or even at the horses. When the war started, I was among the first to offer help, totally disinterested. But paradoxically, the help given to me by those who hosted me was more significant than the one I offered. I do not have a non-profit organization, I do not receive donations. It is only a non-profit activity because it is not possible to make a profit without qualified and serious employees.
Currently, I have 48 horses, 8 of which are small, up to one month old. From the resources I have, I will continue to educate them in a natural style, so that I have friends and not slaves who execute commands out of fear. I also have a significant number of abandoned dogs. The first 30 horses were bought to save them from the slaughterhouse. The rest were born here. They live in a virgin area, in the middle of the mountains. Incidents with wild animals are inevitable. We have hay, but it is insufficient for our studs. The supply of hay is relatively difficult and costs a lot. But we managed. We all live free and happy. Currently, besides my non-speaking friends, I also have new friends from Ukraine. They help me in my daily work, not because I imposed this on them, but because this is their wish. In the villa I have, I live together with a family with two children from Ukraine and another single lady
also from Ukraine. We still have available a large double room (60 sqm) with its own bathroom. The age of the two husbands is 57.38 years, the age of the single lady is 57 and my age is 61. If you consider that it will be a pleasure to live with us, you will be able to learn many things about the care of horses, but also about their behavior and how to you can provide elementary training. In addition, the mountain hikes you can do in the Bucegi National Park will surely be a treat for your soul. We host you with pleasure. You can help us in our daily affairs only if you do it with the same pleasure. No one will force you to do what you don't like. But we assure you that your stay here will be a pleasant one.
2. List the activities that WWOOFers will participate in and what you want to teach them:
The daily care and grooming of the horses, participation in their education, the necessary repairs in the stables, various maintenance works in the house and yard. In general, you can participate in any of the usual activities in the village, without being conditioned to do a certain thing.
3. How will you feed and house WWOOFers? Please describe your accommodations and plan for meals:
Accommodation is in a 60 sqm room with balcony and private bathroom. The living room, the kitchen, the laundry room and the gym are common spaces, the Villa has 4 rooms, their structure being also suitable for large families. It is a habitable hall of 12 m2 with an extendable sofa and a chest of drawers, a 36 m2 room with a 3x3 m matrimonial bed and an extendable sofa, a 9 m2 balcony and a 12 m2 bathroom. I see the surrounding mountains. The Bucegi and Piatra Craiului massifs from the frontal windows, the Postavarul Massif from the side and bathroom windows. Due to the beautiful scenery, we chose not to put curtains on the windows. The orientation of the room is to the South-West.
The food is mainly from organic products. We eat together what the girls in the house decide. We don't do fads
4. What could a WWOOFer's day look like at your site (time slot for participation in activities, expectations...)?
The only expectation we have from our guests is to feel good and help each other
5. Play the guide! Talk about your own hobbies (music, cooking, etc.) and those possible around (hiking, swimming, etc.):
I like the mountain. Mountain hikes, climbing and speleology. All are accessible in the area. I generally like extreme sports. But there is no sport that does not attract me. In addition to sports directly related to the mountain, you can also practice paragliding, mountain biking and rafting (at a slightly greater distance) in the area. I love the music of the 80s, especially pop music.

Doru was kind and welcoming and you could sense that he really loved the region and knew it well. Always opened to share his experience and also his recommendations to what yo do or where to go. It was a very nice stay and would for sure recommend it.
Plus Predeal is a very nice town with nice hikes and also close to other cities like Bușteni or Sinaia where you can do some nice hikes too (and of course close to Brașov), with lots of trains going to all this places.

Staying with Doru, and Vika, Igor, Svetlana and the kids was a very interesting experience. To live day by day with such different cultures and with the horses made me reflect a lot about life.
The mountains really surprised me how big and near of them they are, it is really an amazing landscape!

I had a great time with Doru, Vika, Igor, Svetlana and the kids, in this beautiful villa lost in the mountains. They are very kind and I discovered both Romanian culture and Ukrainian culture. I stayed 3 weeks here, it was my first woofing experience and I enjoyed it.
There is also a lot of places to visit in this region (castles, caves, the Bucegi Sphinx...), and if you love the mountain, you are at the right place.
