A peaceful refuge in nature, with sustainable accommodation, activities and care for the environment
Vrancea
I am Paul, 49 years old, an electronics engineer by profession. Together with my wife, I live in a quiet hill-mountain area of Romania, on a piece of land we have called home since 2016.
Over the years, we have slowly stepped away from the noise of the outside world. We learned how to produce our own electricity, how to use our own water, how to grow and source our food in a simple, natural way. What started as a project became a lifestyle — calm, grounded and deeply connected to nature.
Life here follows the rhythm of the seasons, not the clock. Mornings are quiet. The air is fresh, and the days are filled with simple, meaningful things: caring for the garden and orchard, fixing small things around the property, harvesting medicinal plants, spending time with the bees, walking the land. There is no rush, no pressure — only the natural flow of daily life.
The property has two connected houses, offering space, comfort and privacy. There are four rooms with double beds, a shared kitchen, and many places to sit, read, think or simply listen to the silence. Our meals are simple and healthy, mostly from our own garden or from local, sustainable sources. We avoid processed food and enjoy cooking and eating slowly.
Animals are an important part of this place. We live with two Lagotto Romagnolo dogs, two Labradors, and a few cats. They move freely, and they remind us daily of what presence and joy truly mean.
I enjoy listening to 90s music, playing chess (I am FIDE rated and still compete), and having long, meaningful conversations — as much as I enjoy silence. This place offers both.
Now, we are looking for one person who would like to live here for a longer period of time, not as a worker, but as part of the place. Someone who feels drawn to a simpler rhythm, who values nature, calmness and authenticity.
In exchange, we offer a modest but comfortable home, good food, a peaceful environment and the rare luxury of time — time to slow down, to learn, to reconnect with yourself.
If you are looking for a break from noise and pressure, for a place that feels real and alive, you might feel at home here.
