A Sustainable Life Project My name is Paul, I am 49 years old, an electronics engineer by profession. Together with my wife, we have been building a project since 2016 on a piece of land in the hill-mountain area of Vrancea — a place where we set out to live as close to real autonomy as possible, decoupled as much as we can from the rhythm and dependencies of modern life. What started as an experiment became a way of life. And now we want to take it a step further. Where we are now The property has a large-capacity solar photovoltaic system that provides full energy and heating autonomy. We have our own water, a garden, an orchard, and beehives. Two connected houses, with four rooms, a shared kitchen, and many places where you can sit, read, think or simply listen to the silence. Life here follows the rhythm of the seasons, not the clock. Mornings are quiet, the air is clean, and the days are filled with simple, meaningful things — the garden, the orchard, medicinal plants, the bees, maintaining the land. We eat simply and healthily, almost entirely from what we produce or from local sources. We avoid processed food and enjoy cooking and eating without rush. Animals are an important part of this place. We share our life with two Lagotto Romagnolo dogs, two Labradors and a few cats, who move freely and remind us every day what presence and joy truly mean. This is not a holiday destination. It is a living, functional place where every resource has a purpose. Where we want to go Our vision is a community that is almost 100% sustainable — a kind of modern tribe, where people and resources support each other. We are working towards building a fish pond, a beekeeping pavilion, additional accommodation spaces, and perhaps a woodworking workshop. The next concrete steps include: — An electric drying oven for fruits and medicinal plants — local processing, no waste — A sustainable irrigation system — the garden watered exclusively from our own production — A tourism component — welcoming people who want to understand and experience, even temporarily, this way of life — An electric vehicle charging station — making use of solar energy instead of selling it back to the grid at negligible prices — Smart grid injection — as a complementary solution, not the primary one None of this is ideas on paper. These are logical steps of a system that already works and has the resources to grow. What we are looking for We are not looking for employees, nor for tourists. We are looking for people who understand that a place like this is built together — stable, curious people, with their hands in the soil and their minds clear. It might be someone who wants to learn. It might be someone who needs to heal. It might be someone who brings a skill. It might be someone who simply wants to live differently — with meaning and without noise. I listen to 90s music, play chess at FIDE level and enjoy long, meaningful conversations — as much as I enjoy silence. This place offers both. If you feel this place is speaking to you — write us a few real lines about yourself.
